Welcome to the website of the Department of English at Arul Anandar College, Karumathur. In the era of globalization, as Paul J. Mayer rightly spells out, “communication – the human connection – is the key to personal and career success” and English is predominantly presumed to be the language of communication. Hence, the department is consistently striving hard to offer a range of innovatively designed modules and modern teaching aids to facilitate the students in daily use of English language. The syllabus designed is constantly updated to tone up their language proficiency for personal growth and professional development. As Benjamin Franklin remarks, “Tell me and forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn’, the department engages the students in a gamut of activities outside of class to have hands-on-experience to season their language skills.
Furthermore, the faculty members provide their guidance leading to Ph.D degrees in English Language and Literature under Madurai Kamaraj University systems. Careers in English Language Teaching remain in very high demand and offer not only the comforts of a lucrative job, but also the intellectual challenges of a creative and productive profession. Hence, B. A. English was started in 2011 as self-financed programme.
