VETEX (Veterinary Clinic and Extension Centre)

 

It is the Veterinary extension programme unit run by Post graduate division division of Rural Development Science Department, since March 1997. It offering services to the villagers of Chellampatti block in livestock production and management.

In village camps no fee (or) service charge is collected for any type of treatment. A nominal fee of Rs 10/ is collected as service charge at the VETEX centre towards animal treatment only.

ITS ACTIVITIES ARE

Treatment to animals which are brought to the clinic.

Breeding facilities to upgrade the local cattle.

Training to students of Rural Development Science as part of their practical programme.

Conducting Health camps at village level.

Offering information on economic farming activities in dairy, piggery and poultry.

Training to students from Abroad.

Veterinary camps of 13 numbers were organized at village level with the collaboration of Animal Husbandry Department, Aavin, Village Panchayat, ARISE and World Vision of India during 2015 – 20.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

As per agreement No CGA00015194 signed MoU with Suguna Poultry Limited, Udumelpet in Commercial Broiler Production.

Completed first batch of students in Hands – on training programme in “EARN WHILE YOU LEARN PROJECT” in broiler production and distributed the income to six students of 2nd year RDS.

Started commercial Turkey production unit.

PASHU MELA CUM CATTLE SHOW- A two-day cattle show cum national seminar was organized by the Department of Rural Development Science, Arul Anandar College, in collaboration with ARISE an outreach department of Arul Anandar College, Veterinary Hospital, Karumathur and Vagai Farmers producer Company Karumathur from 27th and 28 Jan 2020.
