WOMEN'S STUDIES CENTRE

The Women’s forum and study cell was established from 2001 to work towards integrated development of rural girl students and empowering them for social transformation. The Centre for Women’s Studies, supported by University Grants Commission, New Delhi, was formally inaugurated on 10th October 2009 on the campus. As an agent of social transformation to move towards a just and equitable social order ,Arul Anandar College has opened its doors to Girl students from 2001 onwards and in June 2005 a women’s hostel was started .In the beginning of every academic year, our women’s study cell offers an orientation Programme to the girl students to educate them on the status of women in India particularly in Usilampatti Taluk where the college is located .The vision of this study centre is to empower women to be the agents for Social transformation and Development .

The primary duty of this centre is to Create awareness among students ,local men and women on issues pertaining to women and gender .We undertake activities to bring about attitudinal changes for effective participation of women .Creating a space for women to come together to strengthen and disseminate information and knowledge about women’s needs. The centre offers periodical trainings to build their soft and technical skills. We encourage networking, co-operation and clustering with NGOs and other institutions which work for issues related to women .The above mentioned activities are the objectives of Women’s Studies Centre of our College.
